🍔 🐶 Have you heard about the new dog friendly bar and grill in Crozet? Jax’s Bar and Grill recently took the space of the recently vacated Enigma Jalisco Mexican (now in Ivy, called Fiesta Azteca). We stopped by for a burger and app, had a satisfying lunch, and chatted with Steve, the owner. Steve characterizes his menu as “savory southern cooking”, and emphasizes that everything at Jax’s is made from scratch, from the hand cut fries, to burgers and sauces, you can expect quality, fresh hand-made food from home recipes. First of all, we LOVE the logo, created for Jax, Steve’s beloved Bernedoodle. The brussels were delicious to start - topped with hot honey, bacon crumbles, and parmesan cheese, and the burger did not disappoint! Steve made the point that Jax’s is not just a burger joint, as they offer nightly entrees, like the Chop Sirloin, Cajun Pasta, Meatloaf, and a Fish of the Day. And to top it off, Jax’s will be celebrating their love for dogs by partnering with local shelters and rescues to raise funds and awareness for animals in need. 🚴🏼❤️ May is National Bike Month! Charlottesville has a full calendar of bike friendly events throughout the month, including group rides, family-friendly activities, and bike test rides. National Bike to Work week falls on May 13-17 this year, and the Bike Month Business Challenge runs all month. May 8th is National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School day. Check out the link in our bio to learn more about how to get involved!

👀 Participate in bike week today, and each Friday of the month! Each Friday during Bike Month, Fridays after Five will have a free bike valet! Bike to the @tingpavilion, and Cville Bike Month volunteers will take care of the parking. 🍻 You can also support Bike Month simply by enjoying a beverage at each Fridays After Five in May. Volunteers will work the beverage tent on behalf of bike-friendly community nonprofits who will benefit from the proceeds. Participating organizations include @livablecville, @cvillecommunitybikes, the Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club @cambc.pics, @threenotchedtrail , and @rivannatrailsfoundation.

🍜 Vu Noodles, located downtown in the most charming little hole in the wall you’ve ever seen, serves Vegan Vietnamese food from their window on Water Street. Owner Julie took over the storefront, formerly “The Flat Creperie”, in 2020 after sharing a space with Pearl Island Cafe at the Jefferson School City Center before that, and serving from “The Spot” (now @lucepastacville) before that. We stopped by the shop last week to chat with Julie, and tried their popular Bahn Mi, Vegan Pho’, and a Vietnamese coffee, all delicious! On this pretty day, the small patio was a delightful spot to dine amongst the bustle on Water St. It is evident that @vunoodles has become a popular lunch spot, with many regulars stopping to dine in or take out. It was also clear that Julie delighted in seeing her patrons happily enjoying her healthy culinary creations. We recommend stopping by for lunch soon, as patio weather is upon us! ...

Starting in May, stroll the mall and check out the beautiful flower box displays outside of businesses as they compete in the Flower Box Competition! Tomorrow, April 25th 2-6pm, don’t miss Charlottesville’s annual Flower Market at the @tingpavilion featuring local nurseries and small businesses (see list below). 🚂 Also starting in May, the Downtown Express train will run on Saturdays (May 4 - 26th 10am - 2pm) starting at Central Place. 🧝‍♂️ Also for the kiddos, don’t miss the Flower, Fairy, and Elf Festival May 18th 10am-1pm in front of City Hall. There will be balloon artists, face painting, and more!
